Collagen Induction Therapy is a minimally invasive skin treatment designed to address those concerned with acne scarring, lines and wrinkles, or dull, lax and lifeless skin. This treatment has been proven to address these concern successfully with results continuing to be seen 12 months post treatment course. Ashbrooke Therapies are clinically qualified and insured to use up to a 1.5mm on the face giving the optimum results possible. Your health and safety is of the upmost concern in conducting this treatment and thus,  a brand new, unopened micro-needling roller is used and disposed of after every treatment.

How Does it Work

Collagen Induction Therapy works by creating microscopic wounds into the skin through perforations from tiny micro-needles, on a medical-grade roller. This process stimulates the skins natural collagen and elastin production by generating a wound healing response; the newly stimulated tissue subsequently moves up through the skin layers smoothing out the appearance of scarring, lines and wrinkles with a further benefit of tightening the skin.

We use a topical local anaesthetic to minimise potential discomfort (this is provided). Following treatment the skin may be red and superficially tender initially, which is a normal response. It is recommended you allow 24-48hrs downtime following treatment.

A course of 6-12 treatments is recommended.

Who are best suited to Micro-needling (CIT)

Boosts Collagen

Collagen production in the skin is crucial to our skin’s appearance. Less collagen as we age means more wrinkles, fine lines and skin sagging. So more collagen means a more youthful complexion, and research shows that microneedling can actually boost collagen production!

According to a 2008 study, patients treated with one to four micro-needling sessions and topical v and C cosmetic creams for a minimum of four weeks pre-operatively experienced “considerable increase in collagen and elastin deposition” six months after completing treatment.

Improves Scars

A 2009 study looked at the effects of multiple micro-needling treatments on 37 patients with atrophic facial scarring. Atrophic scars are sunken in the skin and form when the skin is unable to regenerate tissue. Examples of atrophic scars include those resulting from acne and chicken pox .After treatment, the patients’ scars were evaluated and graded clinically at the start and two months after the conclusion of the treatment protocol.

Out of the 37 initial patients, 36 completed the treatment schedule and out of these 36 patients, 34 obtained a decrease in the severity of their scarring by one or two grades. Over 80 percent of the patients evaluated their micro-needling treatment as “excellent” on a 10-point scale. There were no significant adverse effects recorded for any of the patients.

Increases Overall Radiance

Post-treatment radiance can be seen in the skin, this is due to the increase blood flow, bringing with it key nutrients and hydration replenishing and boosting the skins appearance

After a micro-needling facial, one woman says,

"I also was surprised by how soft my skin felt and how the size of my pores shrank significantly. I load up on hydrating oils every morning because of my inherently dry skin, and I’m addicted to how soft it leaves my skin feeling. But I literally woke up with cushion-like skin without all of the extra work. I decided to go makeup-free (and still am) until my skin completely heals"

Allows Deeper Infiltration of Topical Products

An in vitro study published in the European Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences looked at the effects of a micro-needle device (Dermaroller®) with various needle lengths including 150, 500 and 1500 micrometers. The researchers studied the effects of treatment on the morphology of the skin surface, transepidermal water loss as well as the penetration and permeation of water-attracting topical compounds like those used in skincare products.

After treatment with the Dermaroller®, the researchers observed a decrease in water loss which they believe was most likely caused by a reduction in a pore size. They also noted that skin perforation via the micro-needling tool enhanced the ability of water-attracting compounds to infiltrate the skin.

Overall, it appears that micro-needling definitely enhances the skin’s ability to absorb and hence benefit from topical products. It may also help to decrease pore size and skin cell water loss.

Micro-needing treatment are not recommended for:

I booked an aromatherapy massage for my wife for a gift at Christmas and I want to share the great experience my wife received. Before the massage took place I text Joanne to make sure the appointment was going ahead as planned. Joanne got back to me ASAP, confirmed the appointment and made sure we knew exactly where she was based.
My wife was with Joanne for an hour session and she absolutely loved it! She came back nice and relaxed and let me know that she will be booking up again very soon. Joanne provided an exceptional service and we would highly recommend anyone to give it a try.

Joanne is the most incredible physiotherapist. She finds out what she needs to know through skilled questioning that enables her to assess my problems much more accurately. I have complete confidence in her skills and am truly grateful for the treatment she gave me because in just two visits my 10 year back problem is now history.
